Vertical VHF HF Antenna Variants
1/4 Wave Vertical: For the approximate deployed element length in feet for a 1/4 vertical, divide 234 by frequency in MHz for deployment from 2-40M.
1/2 Wave Vertical: For the approximate deployed element length in feet for a 1/2 vertical, divide 468 by frequency in MHz. This option has 2.14db more gain than a 1/4 wave vertical and can be configured from 2-20 Meters.
5/8 Wave Vertical: For the approximate deployed element length in feet for a 5/8 vertical, divide 585 by frequency in MHz. This option has 3db more gain than a 1/4 wave vertical and can be configured from 2-17M.

Tuning
Tune by extending or retracting the SS-34+ telescopic whip for resonance for use as an omni-directional vertical on 40 through 2 meters when radials are installed on the ground side of a sturdy mounting solution.

Electrical precautions should always be taken when deploying antennas
The SS34+ Vertical VHF HF Antenna should only be used with a sturdy mounting solution.
It is necessary to Guy this system with ropes and anchors to the included Guying Adapter when deployed for 30/40 meters or the element will bend and sway, or perhaps even break. Guying may also be required on other bands if wind conditions require it.

I purchased the SS-34+ Deluxe 11band vertical 2m – 40m $325:00 ( on special offer at $295 when I purchased ), direct from alpha antennas. Due to public holidays it took about 3 weeks to ship to MI.
Absolutely amazed at the construction quality of the antenna, simple to erect and only needs height adjustment for bands or to adjust centre of operation frequency ( no coils or banana plugs ), no atu required.
It is rated at 1KW and depending on band has a 3 – 6 db gain omnidirectional. Guy ropes, ground radials and carry bag included. Total cost in GBP was £240:00 delivered.
One antenna for portable use that covers all the bands that you will need. I’ve set it up in the garden to test and be objective, if you do any portable work this is the antenna for you. The only small criticism I could find and it’s so small, insignificant really is if the carry bag was a little larger and possibly compartmentalised ( even as an optional purchase extra).
This is a perfect antenna for portable work, period.
Alpha antenna followed up with a personal email to check how the purchase, shipping and overall satisfaction went. I have no hesitation in recommending Alpha Antennas.

Hi Steve and team, I have just got this from the USA to India. Haven’t field tested it yet but impressed with the build quality. will be doing so coming weekend. will keep you posted.
This antenna is spot on. The extendable antenna is heavy duty, and very well built. The rest of the components are equally well built. I just wish the storage bag was larger to more easily accomodate with wires and tent stakes.
