In addition to my hextenna which is amazing, I have another telescoping whip used with the Alpha antennas ground spike with a few radials, making it a very small footprint vertical antenna for 6 – meters through 20 – meters. Excellent antenna setup for under $200.00 that can be portable or a base station antenna at home!
The telescoping antenna is built well. We hope to get many years of enjoyment on POTA activations.
With the antenna fully extended and mounted on a tripod with two elevated radials (POTA PERformer), it is resonant at less than 1.1:1 across the entire 20 meter band. The extra length over a standard 17′ whip made all the difference in the world. The build quality is excellent; very heavy duty. Can’t go wrong with this antenna!
