Evolution of Efficiency
In 2014 Alpha Antenna offered a built-in LED tuning aid that would light up at approximately 5 Watts when the loop was tuned. We removed the LED, which activated at about 5 W, because it diverted power from transmission. Without the LED, more energy is radiated, improving antenna efficiency.

Thank you for fast shipping and a great product
The antenna has been working awesome. Full disclosure, I’ve only worked 20m, but that’s because there’s been no reason to change. I bought this, had it delivered in 2-3 days, spent about 10 minutes (most spent re-figuring out my NanoVNA menus) tuning it. First time out, had it at 1.3 SWR.
I worked it a few days and had good results. 20M, West Coast US (near San Diego) and had FT8 confirmed QSOs within minutes. A couple days later decided to get it out of the living room, and was a bit more patient tuning. Again in just a few minutes, I had it 1.0 SWR for 20M FT8 (14.074 MHz I believe). Again good contacts. I have it near AC power strip, so I have a feeling when I do a better job moving all AC away it’s going to go nuts.
Despite what any articles, FAQ, or even Alpha online help says, keep the middle loop aligned with outside. I started seeing >2.0 and then realized the loop was shifted.
Also, at one point no matter what, I couldn’t get it below 1.8 SWR. I moved it about 12 inches northward, and elevated it about 6 inches. BAM! 1.0 almost within seconds.
I worked 20M last night (July 4th AM), sent CQ, and had a pile up from the East Coast, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and some islands off the Florida coast. 20M was popping. I had jumped on to get 1-2, and ended with 6 (all confirmed in QRZ) in just a few minutes on-air.
I put mine on an Amazon tripod for speakers (rated to 90 pounds), and it’s a rock star. I can’t say enough.
